Thirty years ago, a bomb tore through Oktoberfest, killing 13 and injuring hundreds. We’re getting early reports that Munich authorities are nervous about terrorists and petty thieves for this year’s official Oktoberfest, which is set to begin in 4 days. “A no-fly zone will apply in a radius of 3.7 kilometres from the central Munich site, while 50 heavy concrete pods will be placed on the fringes of the unfenced site to block potential car bombers,” reports MonstersandCritics.com.
The staff of OktoberfestHaus.com sincerely hopes that Munich Oktoberfest goes off without a hitch (as do all the thousands of other Oktoberfests happening worldwide). That’s because Oktoberfest is a religious holiday for us. We get decked out in our Oktoberfeshaus lederhosen and carry our beer boots on lanyards from ‘fest to ‘fest.
